Dear Air Cushion Vehicle enthusiast,
The Queensland branch held a planning meeting at the SAAA hall at Archerfield Aerodrome on
Tuesday, 17th April 2007 which was attended by Des Goss, Phillip Audsley, Arthur Stead,
Angus Kerr, Peter Venn, Steven Odgaard and Peter Ledwoch.
Cruise report - Shultz canal at Nudgee - Sunday 1st April 2007.
The last cruise was held on Sunday 1st April 2007 and plan B was evoked due to high winds on
the Bay at Clontarf. Taking part in this cruise were:-
Des Goss in his Turbo Wedge 225,
Steven Odgaard in the Billy Baker 2
Visitors were Michael Noble with parents John and Jenny, Preston Coll with parents John and
Stephanie, and Phillip and Kerri Audsley.
Des Goss and Steven Odgaard launched in the Shultz Canal at Nudgee.
Des' Turbo Wedge 225 went like a dream and Steven's Bill Baker 2 performed well with an
experimental fuel supply to the troublesome Robin lift engine. The engine performed very well and
ran continuously at full revs albeit for just 5 minute intervals with the small capacity gravity tank.
Being mounted above the lift engine, vibration and fuel spillage were of serious concern.
Michael Noble went for a ride in both craft and Jenny Noble, Preston Coll and Stephanie Coll also
went for a ride. Thanks to John Noble for cutting me a spare key for my old Holden car door with
the aid of his mobile locksmith van come Sunday family vehicle and thanks to the Colls and
Audsleys for providing another scrumptious barbecue lunch in the park. We hope that Phil's back
injury sustained while lifting his hovercraft trailer, is only a temporary set-back.
Club News:-
Thanks to Neville Bennett of Magnetic Island who has renewed his membership.
Neville has now taken his Vortex from Evans Head back to Magnetic Island in North Queensland.
Peter Venn showed us various manufacturing methods for producing the perfect small hovercraft
rudder. Peter is in the final stages of construction of a 6 seater Subaru powered craft based on
the Turbo design, and hopes to have the craft ready for water trials in the very near future.
Angus Kerr reported that the Norwegian bid to hold the next world championships has fallen
through and the event may possibly now be staged by the UK if an alternate bid is not
forthcoming.
Arthur Stead reported that the club's website is now 12 months old and Silverline Insulation has
again sponsored the cost of the qhover.com website for another year. Thanks to Peter Venn for
this generous donation.

Ray Newton is seriously ill in hospital. Ray has attended club cruises at Wellington Point, Oyster
Point and Fishermans Island. The last being 8th October 2006.

News from Victoria:-
The Australian National Rally will be held at Lake Cargelligo every second year, with Lake
Narracan or possibly a venue in NSW being selected in the intervening years.
The Victorian Hovercraft Club held its Annual General Meeting on the 14th March 2007.

Next club cruise:-
The next cruise is planned for Sunday 13th May 2007.
Launch at the Eagleby boat ramp near the Pacific Highway bridge at 9:00 am.
The planned trip is down the Logan River to the Albert River Junction, then upstream to Stanmore
Road bridge or Luscombe Weir. If there are speed restriction signs posted upstream of the
Beenleigh Distillery the trip may need to be cut short by a few kilometres.
This is Mother's Day, a point that was overlooked at the last meeting.
If anyone would like to suggest an alternate date then we have time to move it, otherwise the
cruise will go ahead as planned if there are no objections.
