December 2010
Queensland Sporting Hovercraft Club
A branch of the AUSTRALIAN HOVERCRAFT FEDERATION Inc (Vic)
Dear Fellow Hovercraft Enthusiasts,
Cruise report/Christmas party - Muriel Street, Redland Bay, Saturday 11th December 2010.
The last club cruise was held on Saturday 11th December 2010 from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay
courtesy of Peter Venn. This cruise day was also the club's annual Christmas party.
Those attending the cruise were:-
Peter Venn - Turbo TP6 powered by a Subaru 1800 & Honda twin cylinder.
Arthur Stead - Revtech Renegade powered by a 20hp Honda 4 stroke.
Des Goss - Turbo Wedge 225 powered by a Robin EC44.
Dale Baxter - ASV Vortex powered by a Rotax 532, 2 cylinder 2 stroke.
Stephen Venn - Expo Turbo powered by a Yamaha PE485 51hp 2 stroke.
David Penaluna - Hoverjet powered by twin Rowena chain saw engines.
Russ & Ivan Pullen - Flying Fish powered by a 35hp Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke.
Steven Odgaard - Billy Baker 2 powered by a 44hp Chaparral engine (static display).
Peter Venn took visitors for rides in the TP6 and Russ Pullen allowed several club members to trial the Flying Fish. Arthur Stead gave it a full speed fly by which was very impressive and fast for a small lightweight craft. Peter Venn took the Hoverjet out for a run up the passage. It always looks fun to drive with its ultra light agility and puffy low pressure bag skirt.
This club cruise held the largest gathering of craft for the year with a total of 8 ACVs. This required a photo shoot and so the craft were lined up neatly for the end of ten shot.
Party starter: After a sunny morning, the afternoon brought sable skies.
Jacques the handyman plumber from France cleaned out the gutter during a torrential downpour and found a plastic cream bottle with a smoking pipe attachment. Poor old Pete had no idea how this bong had come to bung up his downpipe.
In attendance for the Christmas party were Peter and Elaine Venn, Arthur and Judy Stead, Des Goss, Phillip Audsley, Steven Odgaard, Dale Baxter, Russ Pullen from Caloundra, Ivan Pullen from the UK, David Penaluna, Stephen Venn and partner, Jacques and wife from France and Bill Toppin from Mack Trucks and Volvo.
Many thanks to our hosts: Peter, Elaine, Arthur and Judy for the Christmas luncheon.
